Vigan City - Governor Ryan Singson together with Vice Governor Jerry Singson, and other provincial officials gave recognition for the thirty eight (38) 2016 Bar Passers of Ilocos Sur by giving certificate of commendation last August 11, 2017. Governor Ryan Singson congratulated the 38 new lawyers of Ilocos Sur and said” I have learned that there is a scarcity of those practicing in our province. I encourage you to exercise your profession here such that those who need more of your services, especially those in the outskirts, will be able to receive competent and effective legal representation. They need most your assistance, and as you have in your oath, compensation is merely secondary. It is a service that you have to give back to your communities.” As clipped in the promise of Governor Ryan that he will serve the people of Ilocos Sur fairly, even in the field of profession and achievements, the 2016 Ilocosurian Bar Passers are the first batch to receive commendation from the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur. Only 22 among the 38 Ilocosurian new lawyers were able to attend the recognition ceremony but those absent were represented by their family member. Former scholar of PGIS during his college time, Atty. Gennelyn Abao of Cabugao Ilocos Sur and finished her Law School at Arellano University was one of the bar passers. She showed her gratitude during the interview saying, “I will always be thankful to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur for without them I was not here receiving this commendation. It’s quite hard to pursue and pass the exam but believe me, when you are serious and think of your family you will be there”. Member of the Provincial Board Atty. Ronnie Rapanut said during his closing message “You 2016 batch of bar passers are very very lucky because you marked the second highest bar passers in the country which is equivalent to 59.06% and 38 of it are Ilocosurian, you are even luckier because the provincial government of Ilocos Sur for the first time recognizes your effort and undying sacrifices to reach your ambition and bring pride to our province.”
